Sweet, tender and smoky goodness. Cooked low and slow, barbecue is a food that brings an instant smile to any meat lovers face. While it’s debatable depending on where you live in the country, the choice of meat is irrelevant. If you have the barbecue skills, it all tastes great.
Bring your grill and skills to the Vernal IFA Country Store on Saturday, August 25 and participate in the annual IFA Smokeoff. Establish you have the meat cookin’ chops to be dubbed the neighborhood Pitmaster. Compete for bragging rights, the love of great food, or simply, the fun of it with friends and family.
The event requires that each participant cook their meat onsite. The cuts of meat will be provided at different times in the morning on the day of the competition. The event will be broken into two classes: Business and General. The Business Class requires a team of 3 people from a supporting business to prepare 3 different cuts of meat. The General Class requires individual participants to prepare 2 different cuts of meat on site. In addition to the class competitions, each group or individual will be put in the running for a People’s Choice Award.
Trophies and other prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place winners of the General Class. A traveling trophy will be given to the winner of the Business Class, along with a grill and other prizes. The judging will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Come anyway for free tastes and smells. Visit the store for judging at 12:00 p.m. and participate in the People’s Choice Award. On top of the great food, we’ll also provide visitors with coupons and great deals on grills and accessories.
To participate in the IFA Smokeoff, register by Thursday, August 23 at the Vernal IFA Country Store.
